Dimensions Sciences in partnership with Silicon Valley’s Chapter of Grupo Mulheres Brasil is calling for applications to the first edition of the ScientistA Award.
This Award honors women scientists from Brazil performing research in the US. We are targeting early career professionals. The candidates must hold an active postdoctoral position or equivalent at either academia or industry in the US.
The award comes with a one-time cash prize of $2,000 for the winner and up to 5 honorable mentions. The candidates will be evaluated based on scientific merit, innovation, and candidate profile.
We are specifically seeking highly motivated applicants from a diverse racial and socio-economic background working in projects focused on life sciences and healthcare.
Izabella Pena PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow at the Whitehead Institute
She investigates which chemicals build up in lysosomes in Huntington's Disease, a neurodegenerative disease.
Clarissa Fontes PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Minnesota
She investigates the capacity of oak species to resist drought.
This award benefits inclusion of women in science and promotes international research exchange between the US and Brazil. By honoring women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields we hope to build more diverse community in the US and internationally.
